The Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology (ICAC), in collaboration with the Rovira i Virgili University Foundation, presents a pioneering training course, in microcredential format, dedicated entirely to the processes of knowledge transfer and social impact in the field of archaeology and cultural heritage. This microcredential aims to respond to an emerging need: connecting heritage, history, culture, science, education and territory to generate social and economic value.



This is an innovative initiative that offers a complete approach to the theoretical and methodological framework of knowledge transfer in the field of Humanities, with special attention to historical-archaeological and cultural heritage. The program not only introduces the key concepts, but also explores the strategies and tools necessary to transform academic knowledge into social value.



The course addresses all phases of the transfer process: from project design and planning to its implementation and impact assessment. In addition, it incorporates practical cases and successful experiences that go beyond heritage, such as the ACTS (Art, Science, Technology and Society) approaches, which promote interaction between disciplines and citizen participation.



The curriculum includes content on scientific communication and dissemination strategies, attracting competitive funding, socio-cultural innovation and sustainable territorial development. Participatory methodologies are also worked on to involve local communities in heritage management, as well as tools to integrate archaeological, historical and cultural resources in educational, tourist and social projects. The ultimate goal is to train professionals (in archaeology, cultural and museum management, socio-educational and cultural leisure, teachers, etc.) and local agents (culture, tourism, territorial development technicians, etc.) so that they can lead transformative processes that connect science, heritage and society.



The course lasts 6 ECTS (60 hours) and will be taught virtually between February 2 and June 22, 2026. The training sessions will feature renowned specialists from various fields such as members of the Grupo Llabor of the University of Oviedo, the BitLab cooperative or the artistic and cultural curator Eva García (Opera Comunitaria project of the Gran Teatre del Liceu).
