Mechanical workshop

The mechanical workshop has three qualified technicians and accustomed to working with the specific requirements to develop scientific instruments. At present, in addition to the tasks of the IFAE groups, they are carrying out mass production for the CERN ATLAS experiment.

The IFAE mechanical workshop is equipped with: Three numerical control machines (Johnford VMC 1300 with FUNAC control, Kondia B1050 and Haas VF6) A conventional machine (FTV-SP) A grinding machine (danobat PTC-800) A wire cutting machine (ONA) An EDM machine (ONA NX4F) Aluminum and steel welding equipment Metrology instrumentation, such as a profilometer (Mitutoyo PH-A14) and a metrology table with an accuracy of 5 microns in x-y and 1 micron in z.

Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES) (ICTS)

The Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES), created in March 2007 at the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science, is a Singular Scientific and Technical Infrastructure (ICTS) distributed throughout the Spanish geography, made up of 14 nodes interconnected by networks of high speed. Its mission is to offer the resources and services of supercomputing and data management necessary for the development of innovative and high-quality scientific and technological projects, through competitive calls based on the scientific excellence of the projects to be developed.
