Medical statistics

Medical statistics is an IDIBAPS platform that provides methodological, statistical and data computerization support to the centre’s research projects and related institutions. Depending on the projects and availability, the platform may offer support to external public and private entities. The main goal is to promote excellence in clinical research and make it easier to obtain resources.

Magnetic resonance imaging

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) allows for visualization of organs and tissue in a non-invasive way, as well as its the characterization of their anatomical and functional properties. The IDIBAPS Magnetic Resonance Imaging Core Facility has two scanners for MR acquisition both in humans and in small animal o tissue samples. Besides, the facilty has an image laboratory with specific computer equipment and highly qualified staff specialized in research and development of analysis algorithms adapted to each project requirements. Together with image acquisition and analysis, the facility provides advisory service during the whole project: from project conception to the results discussion and interpretation.

Cytometry

The Cytometry and Cell Sorting Facility has the mission of making available to the research community cutting-edge technologies and technical personnel specialized in the field of flow cytometry and cell sorting, offering its services both to IIS-IDIBAPS personnel and to other external entities, especially R&D centers, public or private.To do this, we have a 62m2 cytometry room in which 4 digital cytometers, 1 of them is a full spectrum flow cytometer, and a 44m2 cell sorting room with 2 digital cell sorters.The Facility staff consist of a coordinator, a senior technician and 2 junior technicians; all of them full-time, organized so that the Facility works uninterruptedly from 8h to 20h, to assimilate as many experiments as possible. The staff has proven experience in the field of flow cytometry and cell sorting.We offer a wide range of applications in flow cytometry and develop or implement new ones depending on researchers needs.We provide training, as well as technical knowledge and advice for experimental design, analysis, and data management.

Functional genomics

The Functional Genomics platform allows researchers to access different technologies and protocols related to functional genomics. The services it offers range from sample management for genomics projects, such as quantitative and qualitative analysis of nucleic acids, to studies of transcriptional profiles of gene panels or the entire genome, genotyping. low- or high-density, gene dose analysis, and gene sequencing of genome regions (mainly gene panels). To conduct these studies it has several platforms, including real-time PCR, digital quantization, microarray and mass sequencing (NGS) platforms. In addition to these services, it also offers advice on experimental design for various studies.

Biobank HCB-FRCB-IDIBAPS

The Biobank of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona - Fundació Recerca Clínic Barcelona - Institut d'Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (HCB-FRCB-IDIBAPS Biobank) is a centralized platform that coordinates the collection, processing, storage and procurement of human biological samples and associated data to promote high-quality biomedical research. These samples are available to the scientific community with the aim of promoting personalized medicine. The Biobank is highly specialized in sample processing, providing researchers with several technical services to process human and animal samples. The Biobank works under the ISO9001 quality management system.
