Food production is already severely affected by climate change, and it is going to become even more fragile in the coming years as extreme weather events become more common. Several interventions are required from many industries to mitigate the effects of climate change. One contribution from the agricultural industry is to develop products that help plants withstand stressful situations such as heat and drought. This need is at the core of the efforts of the team at CRAG led by Dr. Ana Caño- Delgado over the past decade.

The market for PLANeT BIOTECH includes biostimulants, a market that was valued at $2.638 million in 2020 and is projected to reach $5.040 million by 2026. The business model is based on developing compounds in house

Product description

Dr. Caño-Delgado has developed a platform which gives the biostimulant and agrochemical industry a reliable and cost-effective tool to fast-screen thousands of molecules and active compounds for enhancing crop tolerance to elevated temperatures, highly reducing the financial and time burden needed by the industry to discover potential new compounds. The scientific bases of this platform has been validated and patented (EU patent application P6100130EP), and together with the knowhow involved in the whole process, suggests that it can be the basis for a profitable business
