FIBROKIT, the first IVD tests for Renal Fibrosis (RF), is a dual diagnostic approach based on a urine biomarker to detect and monitor RF non-invasively: The FIBROKIT-Lateral Flow Kit aims to detect as a point-of-care in a rapid, qualitative and clinically applicable manner the presence of RF of at-risk population. The FIBROKIT-ELISA Kit is intended for accurate assessment of the degree of RF and for monitorization of patients with suspected or confirmed RF in a clinical lab setting.

2022-10-008 - SNIFFDRONE - Drone for measuring the concentration of odour

We have developed a drone for measuring the concentration of odour in real operation conditions. The drone includes a measurement chamber with a set of sensors configured to measure multiple parameters from air samples and a geopositioning system that allows a precise mapping of the odour signals. Our system is currently at a TRL 6 and has been validated in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) as relevant industrial environment.

2022-10-006 - Cancer TTLL11 - Targeting tumours through a novel mechanism of genome instability (SpinSTL)

Targeting tumours through a novel mechanism of genome instability. Microtubule (MT)-stabilizing drugs (e.g. taxanes) are widely used as efficient chemotherapies, despite their high toxicity and resistance development. In many cancer cases, targeted therapies are not (or no longer) an option. Researchers at CRG have recently uncovered a mechanism that precisely defines homeostatic MT dynamics in mitosis through the polyglutamylation of the spindle MTs by the enzyme TTLL (Zadra et al. 2022). Targeting microtubule dynamics specifically through TTLL offers an opportunity for widely applicable anti-cancer drugs that act through a proven MOA (disregulation of MTs and mitosis) and yet have potentially much safer and long-lasting effects than standard chemotherapies. Targeting TTLL may also prove to be effective in taxane-resistant tumor cells as it occurs in triple negative breast cancer cells (TNBC). Work is ongoing to validate the target in vitro an in vivo, in TNBC (initial POC) and beyond, and to develop the first inhibitory compounds.

2022-10-003 - scFlea-Chip - scFLEA-ChIP: epigenome profiling at single cell resolution

FLEA-ChIP, is a high resolution technology able to identify protein-DNA interactions from ultra-low-input samples and at a single cell level. FLEA-ChIP produces high-quality data and can be implemented in any molecular biology lab, not requiring complex steps or specific and expensive devices to perform the assay. Single cell implementation of FLEA-ChIP, scFLEA_x0002_ChIP, is also developed, and is being implemented for droplet microfluidics and microplate automation.
