Paleohistology Laboratory

Located in the main ICP building on the UAB campus, the Paleohistology Laboratory supports researchers and by preparing thin sheets for the study of the microscopic characteristics of fossil animal bones and teeth and current, and by preparing the current anatomical elements prior to the preparation of the sheet. These thin sheets can be used in the following fields: Histology, Paleontology, Petrography, Optical Mineralogy and Archeology.

Equipments

At a technical level, the laboratory has the following equipment:

Isomet low speed saw: Low speed saw suitable for all types of material (biomaterials, plastics, metals).
Petrothin: Sectioning machine that allows thin cuts with precision of hard materials (bones, teeth, rocks, ceramics or concrete).
Metaserv: Polisher that allows to reduce the sample with various granulometries to the polishing with textile.
