The Montsec Observatory (OdM), managed by the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC), is home to the Joan Oró Telescope (TJO), the largest in Catalonia, primarily used for astrophysics research and satellite tracking. The IEEC, with the IFAE and i2CAT, has installed the Telescopi Ràpid d’Ample Camp (TRAC) at the OdM, a new wide-field, rapid-response telescope equipped with cutting-edge technology such as a high-resolution CMOS camera. This new instrument will expand the TJO's capabilities, enabling studies such as asteroid tracking, transient phenomena, and applications in optical communications with satellites. It will also strengthen space surveillance (SST) activities, including low-Earth orbits (LEO), and will participate in European programs such as EU-SST. Data processing will be carried out with the support of the PIC (IFAE), and the telescope will serve as a tool for i2CAT's development of an optical communications system. Furthermore, the project will have a positive impact on the region, especially in the municipality of Sant Esteve de la Sarga, promoting local socioeconomic and technological development. The new telescope represents an opportunity of great scientific and technological value.

The NanoSight Pro is a state-of-the-art system designed for the characterization of nanoparticles in suspension using Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA). 

The new Thermal Vacuum Chamber (TVAC) of the Institute for Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC), located in the workshop of the Institute of High Energy Physics (IFAE), will provide a controlled environment for testing satellites, subsystems, and space instruments under conditions representative of Earth orbit. 



The uniqueness and innovative nature of the project will promote the analytical development of a wide range of quantitative and qualitative applications focused on the analysis of mobile polar compounds using a single infrastructure.

On the one hand, the ion chromatograph (IC) coupled with conductivity detectors (CD) and ultraviolet/visible (UV/VIS) detectors will address general ion characterization needs.

Furthermore, the provision of a high-resolution mass spectrometer (HRMS) will represent the definitive solution for the robust, selective, reproducible, and sustainable determination of contaminants such as haloacetic acids, pesticides, and polar metabolites, among others. Furthermore, the IC-HRMS tandem will provide the potential for untargeted analysis for the structural elucidation of unknown compounds, along with their degradation products, especially in the field of metabolomics, which affect the environment and human health.

The equipment is expected to monitor a significant portion of Catalonia, subject to numerous threats resulting from global change: stressed and fire-prone forests, the growing impact of pests and diseases, and water scarcity that compromises agricultural production, among others.
